 | Hello,
I really someone will read this post as it is my quest to find long lost friends from Nasugbu.
First of all, my name is Jacques Hébert, I am a past participant of an exchange program that took place in Nasugbu 30 years ago. I understand that it has been a very long time however, many memories of this wonderful experience are very fresh in my mind.
Unfortunately, I cannot remember the family names of the people I stayed with. However, In do remember that my hosting Tatay worked for the local government of Nasugbu. I believe his name was Freddie and possibly Da silva but I'm not 100% certain. His wife who was a beautiful Pilipina lady worked for an agricultural program that helped farmer throughout the Province of Batangas become more efficient through training and seminars. I recall going to Mindoro with her to participate in on of the may workshops she organized. This couple live on the outskirts of town 10 minutes on my motorbike. They had 4 children; three boys and one daughter. Today, the eldest boy would be approximately 47 years of age, the second boy (Alex) would be 45, their only daughter would be 42 and the baby Alvin would be 34. An older lady also lived with the family, I believe she was the grandmother of my Tatay. She was a retired chemistry teacher who operated a corner street drugstore on the opposite corner of the local market. I remember vividly that corner street drugstore because I spent many hours there with the family. Also, the drugstore was accross the street from the bus stop coming from Manilla.
My host Nanay also had a brother who was a trained dentist living in Wawa Barrio or very close to it. He would be approximately 54 years of age. I recall going to Manilla with him to visit his fiancee who was also a dentist.
Many of my co-participants lived with doctors. I believe three of them. Two of the families actually operated what looked like private clinics not to mention mini hospitals and a third (Nellie) had a clinic at home.
Finally, I also remember a really neat guy with whom I had a lot of fun riding my motorbike. His family name was Garcia. If my memory serves me well he owned and operated a motorbike leasing company. I believe he owned most of the motorbike taxis in town.
Oh...I also have fond memories of the many hours with spent drinking Nestcafe at the delapasigan restaurant where one of my friends stayed.
I hope the above information will allow you, whoever you are, help me find a thread that will lead me to my Host family.
A group od philippino participants are planning a reunnion this coming year. The date has yet to be established but they seem to be shooting for late October. It would so cool for me to come back and visit my long lost friends and the many new ones who will have helped find my family.
In closing, I would like to inform you that I am myself and elected official in my community and have spent many years as a Secretary treasurer in a small community in Quebec. Perhaps, we could explore the idea of sharing best practices someday...in the meantime you can visit our website: www.potton.ca
Thank you for all the help you will provide me with and please rest assured, I will keep you in my prayers.
Yours truly,
Jacques |
 | One day - I was looking for some photos of Nasugbu and I found this site and activities about Nasugbu! I'm so gald that this page exist. It's good for Nasugbu Town! So proud to be from Bayabasan, Nasugbu, Batangas!!
Mayor Barcelone is a great Mayor!! I hope he will continue be the mayor so we can put Nasugbu on the world map! |
 | police won't enforce the traffic laws in nasugbu. 5-6 people on motorbikes, children on handlebars, no helmuts, bad driving, tricycles with no lights, no pnp patrols for crime prevention, poor infrastructure, roads drainage etc, apart from that nasugbu has a long way to go to match other resort towns in philippines for investment and of course road safety. |
 | So Glad !! may multiply pala ang bayan q ? |
